Hey – welcome to Tactical Smarts! My name is Shawn and this here is my little corner of the web.
For as long as I can remember, weekends meant getting up early and my dad taking me down to our local Hardee’s for a big, greasy breakfast before heading over to his favorite fishing spot.
We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up, so the boat that we used for fishing was an old hand-me-down from my grandpa. It didn’t matter though cause I loved going out in that thing with my pops.
Our many weekend fishing excursions didn’t always result in bringing home the big one. In fact, there were plenty of times that we came home empty handed. I’m surprised my ma still let us go out every Saturday! But boy, those days when we caught a lot, man, did we eat good those nights.
After I got a little older, he taught me how to track and hunt deer. Though I much preferred spending time out on the boat instead of stuck up in a deer stand!
Now that I’m older, I still spend most of my weekends out on the lake (and every so often I go hunting). I still go out with my dad sometimes, but we don’t have to take that old boat with us any more. Thanks to my job in town, I upgraded us to a fishing kayak and it’s been the best decision that I’ve ever made. My pops was hesitant at first, but he quickly warmed up to the idea once I got him out there.
Whether you’re into fishing, hunting, living off the grid, or something else, I’m glad you’re here, buddy. I’m also excited to share some of my tips and thoughts on fishing, hunting, camping, survival, and give you some tips on my favorite gear.
Feel free to give me a holler over on my contact page if you got any questions for me.
Maybe I’ll see ya out there sometime!
